Akylite® (Plex)

Akylite® is a sheet of polypropylene that is very sturdy despite its low weight. This is due to the core: it is made of transparent polypropylene that has been vacuum-drawn. This creates a honeycomb structure, which makes the material extra strong.

The material weighs 600 grams per m2 and is available with a thickness of 2.9 mm. Akylite® has a maximum one-piece print width of 300 cm and a maximum one-piece print height of 202 cm.

Honeycomb core

The honeycomb core makes Akylite® a sturdy material. The core consists of honeycomb glued between the two outer sides. The hexagonal shapes create air so the board is not solid. Because of this core, Akylite® is not foldable.

Most common applications

Akylite® is most commonly used as a POS material. The material is weather resistant and therefore suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Good alternative to Forex®

Looking for a greener or cheaper material than Forex®? Then go for Akylite®. This material is fully recyclable due to its composition and a lot more economical. The top layer of Akylite® is similar to Forex®. A plus of Akylite® is that it has unbreakable corners.

Mounting tips

Akylite® is easy to install on flat or curved walls or structures. Good to know: the material can expand slightly. We therefore recommend that you leave the drill holes slightly wider. This makes it easier to position and move the board material.
